Cloud Gate is a large, mirror‑polished public sculpture by Sir Anish Kapoor, installed as the centerpiece of AT&T Plaza at Millennium Park in the Loop neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. Commonly called the “Bean” because of its rounded, elliptical form, the work has become an iconic visitor destination and a frequent subject of photography and film.

Design and inspiration

Kapoor’s design is notable for a continuous, highly reflective surface that warps and combines images of the sky, skyline and people around it.
