Asyut (Arabic محافظة أسيوط Muhāfazat Asyūt, DMG Muḥāfaẓat Asyūṭ) is a governorate in Egypt with a population of 4,383,289, located in central Egypt.

It is bordered on the north by the al-Minya governorate, on the east by the Red Sea governorate, on the south by the Sauhaj governorate, and on the west by the al-Wadi al-Jadid governorate. The eastern part of the governorate extends into the Arabian Desert. The administrative center is Asyut.
