Sevgein — former municipality in the Surselva region of Graubünden

Administrative change

As part of a regional reorganization intended to streamline local administration, Sevgein ceased to be an independent municipality on 1 January 2014. It joined with several neighboring communes to form the new municipality of Ilanz/Glion. The merger included the former municipalities of Castrisch, Ilanz, Ladir, Luven, Pitasch, Riein, Ruschein, Schnaus, Duvin, Pigniu, Rueun and Siat.

Situated in a valley landscape with wooded slopes and alpine pastures, Sevgein exemplified the small-scale settlement pattern found across Surselva. The village layout and local building styles reflect vernacular alpine architecture: compact farmsteads, stone foundations and wooden upper levels adapted to steep terrain and seasonal weather.
