Overview
Glen Canyon Dam is a major concrete arch-gravity dam on the Colorado River near Page, Arizona. Completed in the early 1960s, it impounds the river to form Lake Powell, one of the largest reservoirs in the United States. The dam stands about 583 feet above the riverbed and spans roughly 1,560 feet across the canyon. Its reservoir extends for many miles upstream and can store tens of millions of acre-feet of water.
