Miguel Cabrera

Early career and teams

Cabrera began his big-league career with the Florida Marlins, debuting in the early 2000s. He was part of a young Marlins core and helped that club win a World Series early in his career. In 2008 he was traded to the Detroit Tigers, where he spent the bulk of his career and reached many of his peak seasons. Initially a third baseman, he later moved to first base as his defensive role changed with age and injuries.

Cabrera combines exceptional bat-to-ball skills with significant raw power. He is widely praised for his plate discipline, ability to recognize pitch types, and consistent contact, which let him collect high batting averages alongside substantial home run totals. He is often referred to by fans and teammates as “Miggy.”
