Felix Chen (Chinese: 陳秋盛; 9 July 1942 – 9 April 2018) was a Taiwanese conductor who led a prominent career in Taiwan's classical music scene.

Career

Chen was the resident conductor and served as Music Director of the Taipei Symphony Orchestra from 1986 until he left the post in 2003. His departure came after a period of disagreement and controversy that attracted public attention.

During his time with the orchestra, Chen oversaw regular staged opera projects, typically presenting one or two full productions each year. These performances became significant cultural events in Taiwan and helped raise the profile of large-scale opera on the island. Among the major works he conducted were:

Felix Chen died on 9 April 2018 in Taipei. He was 75 years old. The cause of death was reported as liver failure.
