Location and landscape

Pave Lane occupies a quiet, deeply rural area and provides clear views across the surrounding Shropshire countryside. It sits near the former country estate known as Lilleshall Hall, which is one of the larger historic properties in the locality.

Transport and past uses

Historically, the hamlet developed along a toll road that linked Newport with Wolverhampton. The presence of this coaching route led to a number of inns and coach houses serving travellers. In later years that thoroughfare became part of the A41.
