Farbauti (Saturn moon)
Farbauti (S/2004 S 9) is a small, irregular, retrograde moon of Saturn discovered in 2004; it orbits far from the planet and is named after a figure from Norse mythology.

Farbauti, provisionally designated S/2004 S 9 and also known as Saturn XL, is a small outer satellite of Saturn. It was discovered from observations made at Mauna Kea on 12 December 2004 and announced to the public on 4 May 2005. The discovery team credited with its detection includes Scott S. Sheppard, David C. Jewitt and Jan Kleyna.
Physical characteristics
Farbauti is tiny compared with Saturn's major moons: observations indicate a diameter of roughly 5 kilometres. Like many distant satellites, it is expected to be irregular in shape and to have a dark, lightly studied surface. Because of its small size and faintness, detailed information about its composition, albedo and internal structure remains limited and is inferred mainly from brightness measurements.

This moon follows a distant, elongated and retrograde path around Saturn, completing one orbit in about 1,079 days and residing at an average distance of roughly 20,291,000 kilometres from the planet's cloud tops. Name and cultural origin
In April 2007 the satellite received the name Fárbauti, taken from Norse mythology; in the myths Fárbauti is described as a jötunn (giant) and is noted as the father of Loki.
