Neyruz-sur-Moudon (former municipality in Vaud, Switzerland)

Geography and character

The settlement lay near the market town of Moudon and was surrounded by a mix of cultivated fields, meadows and small woodlands. Its landscape and land use reflected the traditional patterns of rural Vaud: family farms, pastureland, and scattered houses concentrated near a village core. Transport links served local commuting and access to larger towns in the region.

History and administration

The village shared the long, gradual historical development common to small Swiss communities: local governance through a municipal council, parish ties, and agricultural economy. Merger into Montanaire

On 1 January 2013 Neyruz-sur-Moudon ceased to exist as an independent municipality when it joined other nearby communes to form the new municipality of Montanaire. The consolidation was part of a broader trend in Switzerland to merge small municipalities to improve administrative efficiency, pool services and reduce costs.
