Biography

Archuleta became known nationwide through the casting show American Idol. In the seventh season in early 2008, he was the youngest contestant to finish second to David Cook. Immediately after the show, the songs he performed were in high demand on iTunes, and not only did Cook have eleven songs on the Billboard Hot 100 the following week, but Archuleta also had his three final songs on the official U.S. charts, with his version of John Lennon's Imagine reaching #36.
He then released his own first single Crush in August, which immediately entered the charts at number 2, one place better than his show rival's debut. In November 2008, the debut album David Archuleta was released accompanied by a re-recording of Robbie Williams' Angels. David Archuleta also made a guest appearance on iCarly in the episode "America Sings" and on Hannah Montana in the episode "The Prom".
In 2009, he won three Teen Choice Awards in the categories of "Breakout Star," "Best Love Song" (for Crush) and "Best Music Tour" (with Demi Lovato).
In 2010, he won a Teen Choice Award in the category "Best American Idol Album". In 2012, after the singles Nandito Ako and Forevermore, the album Forevermore was released in April. In August 2012, his album Begin was released. This was his next album with cover versions and original songs.
