Climbing history

Ultar Sar resisted many early attempts and became famous as a hard objective. After several unsuccessful expeditions in the mid and late 20th century, the first documented successful ascent was made in 1996 by Japanese climbers Akito Yamazaki and Kiyoshi Matsuoka. Despite that success, the peak has remained rarely climbed because of technical difficulty and dangerous conditions.
