History and development

Charismatic renewal associated with Pentecostalism reached Sweden around 1906–1907, influenced by revivals abroad and local leaders who emphasized experiential faith. Over subsequent decades the movement established many congregations and institutions, including Bible schools and mission societies. One measure of its scale: on 31 December 2011 the movement comprised 463 congregations. Leaders and congregations in Sweden both learned from and contributed to international Pentecostal networks.

Organization, activities and institutions

Rather than a single hierarchical structure, Swedish Pentecostal churches generally operate with congregational governance and local autonomy. Common activities and institutions associated with the movement include:
