Geography and communities

Bayou Lafourche runs through the parish and connects communities to the Gulf of Mexico via a network of wetlands and canals. The landscape combines agricultural fields, fishing marshes and industrial corridors. Notable towns include Thibodaux and several smaller communities that grew along the bayou and the coast.
