Jacqueline Marie "Jackie" Evancho (/iːˈveɪŋkoʊ/ ee-VAYNG-koh; born April 9, 2000) is an American classical crossover singer. Evancho plays piano, flute, and is also a songwriter. She gained wide recognition at an early age. Since 2009, Evancho has released an EP and five studio albums. She has one platinum and one gold album. Evancho has even performed at Carnegie Hall.

Between 2008 and 2010, Evancho entered several talent competitions. She made singing appearances, mostly in Pennsylvania. She also attracted interest on YouTube. In 2010, at age ten, she gained wider popularity with her performances in the fifth season of the America's Got Talent competition. She finished in second place behind Michael Grimm. Evancho starred in the 2012 movie "The Company You Keep" with Robert Redford.

Career

In November 2009, she released an independently released debut album titled Prelude to a Dream. After receiving a recording contract from Syco Music, the album O Holy Night was released in November 2010. It reached #2 on the American Billboard charts and was awarded a platinum record. Three more albums were released in 2011 and 2012, all of which debuted in the top 10 on the Billboard 200. At classical-crossover.co.uk, she tops the rankings with twice as many votes as the second-place finisher.

As an actress, Evancho appeared in Robert Redford's 2012 feature film The Company You Keep. The film premiered at the 2012 Venice International Film Festival and was also later screened at the Toronto International Film Festival. From 25 July 2013, the film was also shown in German cinemas under the title The Company You Keep - The Grant File.

She sang the US national anthem at Donald Trump's inauguration.

In May 2020, Evancho placed fifth out of 18 contestants on the third season of the U.S. version of The Masked Singer as Kitty.
