Jackie Evancho
Jackie Evancho (as Jacqueline Marie Evancho; born April 9, 2000) is an American up-and-coming classical and pop singer. She became known to a wider audience in 2010 through her participation in the fifth season of the casting show America's Got Talent, where she came in second place. Her repertoire is a crossover between classical music and pop. Her releases were initially dominated by classical arias from the opera genre as well as works from the spiritual realm, so that she was already celebrated as an up-and-coming soprano. Most recently, Evancho has gravitated towards popular music.
Career
In November 2009, she released an independently released debut album titled Prelude to a Dream. After receiving a recording contract from Syco Music, the album O Holy Night was released in November 2010. It reached #2 on the American Billboard charts and was awarded a platinum record. Three more albums were released in 2011 and 2012, all of which debuted in the top 10 on the Billboard 200. At classical-crossover.co.uk, she tops the rankings with twice as many votes as the second-place finisher.
As an actress, Evancho appeared in Robert Redford's 2012 feature film The Company You Keep. The film premiered at the 2012 Venice International Film Festival and was also later screened at the Toronto International Film Festival. From 25 July 2013, the film was also shown in German cinemas under the title The Company You Keep - The Grant File.
She sang the US national anthem at Donald Trump's inauguration.
In May 2020, Evancho placed fifth out of 18 contestants on the third season of the U.S. version of The Masked Singer as Kitty.
