Glion — Swiss mountain village above Montreux

History and notable people

The village grew in prominence with the development of tourism on the Swiss Riviera during the 19th and early 20th centuries, when visitors sought cool hillside retreats above the lake. It is also known as the place where industrialist and founder of the Nestlé company, Henri Nestlé, died in 1890.
