Bullmastiff

Appearance and coat

Bullmastiffs are powerful and muscular with a broad head and a short muzzle. Their coat is dense and short; common colors include fawn, red, and brindle. The coat description links to traditional color terms: fawn, reddish-brown, and brindle. A defining feature is the dark facial mask, often black on the face and ears, which contrasts with the rest of the coat.

Care considerations include socialization from a young age, consistent training, and routine veterinary checks. Like many large breeds, Bullmastiffs can be prone to hip dysplasia, certain joint issues and a relatively shorter lifespan than smaller breeds; responsible breeding and health screening are important. Today they are appreciated both as family guardians and affectionate companions, prized for their combination of strength, steadiness and gentle loyalty.
