Charles Peete "Charlie" Rose, Jr. (born January 5, 1942) is an American television interviewer and journalist. He became widely known for a nightly interview program that featured long-form conversations with figures from politics, business, science, the arts and culture. Rose's work combined in-depth questioning with a conversational, low-key style.

Early life and education

Rose was born in Henderson, North Carolina, and attended Duke University. He began his career in journalism after completing his studies and worked in a variety of broadcast roles before establishing his own interview program. Beginning in 1991, Rose hosted the interview series that bore his name; it was produced for public television and later distributed more widely.
