Fruit cultivation, vegetable gardens and pastoralism are common livelihood activities. Traditional crafts and community life remain important; cultural patterns reflect the long-established rural character of the region and include local festivals, music and cuisines typical of southern Azerbaijan.
History and notable facts
As with many districts in Azerbaijan, Yardimli's present administrative borders were shaped during the 20th century. The area has an older human presence tied to mountain farming and woodland use. Today it is often noted for its scenic landscapes, potential for eco-tourism and the quiet character of its villages, offering a contrast to the country's larger urban centres.
