Morphology and identification

Adult tachinids vary in size and coloration but frequently show a stout body, well-developed postscutellum and strong setae that distinguish them from many other muscoid flies. Life cycle and reproductive strategies

The life cycle usually includes egg, multiple larval instars, pupa and adult.
