Roberto González López, better known by his stage name Sebastián Ferrat, was a Mexican actor born on 17 September 1978 in Mexicali, Baja California. He worked primarily in Spanish-language television and became a familiar face through a succession of telenovelas and serialized dramas produced for major Mexican and U.S.-based networks.

Career and notable work

Ferrat built his career appearing in productions for networks such as Televisión Azteca and Telemundo. He achieved wider recognition for his portrayal of Juan Antonio Marcado on the crime drama El Señor de los Cielos, appearing in the third and fourth seasons (2015–2016). That role, in a series centered on organized crime narratives, brought him greater visibility across Latin America and among Spanish-speaking audiences in the United States.

Roles and screen presence

Throughout his career, Ferrat was associated with dramatic roles typical of telenovelas and serialized crime dramas. He was noted for playing complex antagonists and characters involved in morally ambiguous storylines, contributing to productions that combined melodrama with action and suspense. His work illustrates the career path of many Mexican actors who move between national networks and transnational Spanish-language series.

Illness and death

In October 2019 Ferrat suffered a severe medical crisis that left him comatose after an episode of foodborne illness; media accounts and reports at the time described the incident as a serious case of coma following food poisoning. Several sources indicated the illness followed consumption of spoiled pork (pork), and he was subsequently treated in a hospital in Mexico City (Mexico City hospital). Ferrat died on 29 December 2019 at the age of 41.

Legacy and context

Ferrat's passing was covered by entertainment media and prompted comments from colleagues and fans. His career is an example of the prominence that recurring roles in popular telenovelas and crime dramas can confer on actors in the Spanish-language television market. While his life was cut short, his performances—particularly in El Señor de los Cielos—remain part of his public legacy.
