Sebastian grew up in Virginia, a region that produced a wave of influential hip-hop and R&B talent in the 1990s and 2000s. That environment—characterized by inventive beats and close collaborations among producers and vocalists—shaped his musical outlook. Like many artists from that circle, Sebastian moved between recording sessions, guest appearances and behind-the-scenes roles.
Career and collaborations
Sebastian’s career is best understood through his collaborations. He has been associated with projects connected to Timbaland and other Virginia-based musicians, contributing verses or vocal parts on recordings and mixtapes. While he did not achieve the mainstream solo profile of his brother, his work appears across a number of regional releases and collaborative tracks.
Style and themes
His rap delivery fits within a late-1990s/early-2000s hip-hop aesthetic, blending rhythmic cadence with an emphasis on groove and hook-driven sections. Lyrical topics span personal experience, street narratives and braggadocio common to the era’s rap styles, often tailored to complement the producer-driven beats of his collaborators.
Notable facts and legacy
- Often discussed in relation to Timbaland and the Virginia music community.
- Maintains a relatively low public profile compared with mainstream artists.
- Represents one of several artists who contributed to the collaborative, producer-led sound of that period.
Because comprehensive discographies and detailed personal histories are sparse in public records, many accounts of Sebastian’s life and work are brief or concentrated in liner notes and guest credits. He remains a figure best known to listeners interested in the extended creative network around Timbaland and Virginia’s late-20th-century music renaissance.
Career
Sebastian originally wanted to be an athlete, but when his brother Timbaland started working as a DJ, he started making music after graduating high school. In 2000, he wrote We at It Again, the first song lyrics for Timbaland. Over the years, Sebastian continued to write and produce for Timbaland and also made several guest appearances on his productions.
Sebastian co-wrote Nelly Furtado's song Promiscuous. In 2007, Timbaland then released his album Shock Value, on which Sebastian co-sings three songs.
