Overview
San José is the first canton of the San José Province in Costa Rica. It contains the national capital, San José, which also serves as the canton seat and the country's principal administrative hub. The canton covers a compact area of about 44.62 km² and is one of Costa Rica's most urbanized and densely settled municipalities.
