Rhapsody (Apple operating system)
Rhapsody was Apple’s transitional OS after acquiring NeXT: a NeXTSTEP/OpenStep–based platform that introduced Yellow Box (later Cocoa) and Blue Box compatibility, ultimately evolving into Mac OS X.
Overview
Rhapsody was the name Apple used for the next-generation operating system platform built on technology from NeXT after Apple acquired that company. It combined NeXT’s object-oriented OpenStep foundations and a Mach/BSD kernel with compatibility layers intended to ease the migration of classic Mac applications.
