Gala is a variety of eating and cooking apple. This variety is crisp, juicy and sweet. The skin color of the fruit is non-uniform. It usually has a red skin that can have some additional yellow color. The gala apple was created in New Zealand by crossing Kidd’s orange red and golden delicious apples.
In the United States, it was projected in 2019 to be the most highly produced apple variety.
