Field Marshal Edwin Noel Westby Bramall, Baron Bramall (18 December 1923 – 12 November 2019), was a senior officer of the British Army. He rose through regimental, staff and command appointments to serve as Chief of the General Staff from 1979 to 1982 and as Chief of the Defence Staff from 1982 to 1985, becoming one of the professional heads of the United Kingdom’s armed services.
