Deggendorf (West Central Bavarian: Landkroas Degndoaf) is a Landkreis located in the state of Bavaria, in Germany. The district's administrative center is the town commonly called Deggendorf.

Geography

The district occupies a stretch of lower-lying terrain where the rolling foothills of the Bavarian Forest meet broad river valleys. Agriculture, woodland and small towns are typical land uses across the area.

Rivers and hydrography

The major waterway through the district is the Danube, which traverses the area from west to east. The Isar river approaches from the south and joins the Danube close to the town of Deggendorf, forming an important local confluence.
