Bufo apolobambicus — a South American toad species

Characteristics

Members of the genus share several general features: stout bodies, granular or warty skin, prominent parotoid glands behind the eyes, and a diet mainly composed of insects and other invertebrates. Bufo apolobambicus is presumed to follow this general pattern in behaviour and morphology, being largely nocturnal and active on the forest floor during wet periods.

Habitat and range

This toad occupies subtropical and tropical forest environments, often in humid montane or cloud-forest zones where leaf litter and understory provide cover.
