Yeshi Dhonden (15 May 1927 – 26 November 2019) was a Tibetan-Indian physician of Traditional Tibetan medicine and humanitarian. He was the 14th Dalai Lama from 1961 to 1980. In 2018, the Indian government honoured him with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award in India. He was born in Namro, Tibet. He was known by many for "curing cancer".
Dhonden retired on 1 April 2019 due to bad health. He died of respiratory failure on 26 November 2019 in Dharamshala, India at the age of 92.
