Trust Company (often stylized as TRUSTcompany or TRUST*CO) is an American alternative metal and post-grunge band that emerged from Prattville, Alabama. Active mainly from the late 1990s through the 2000s, the group combined heavy guitar work with melodic vocal hooks and became most widely known for the single "Downfall," which received substantial television exposure and helped the band reach a national audience.

Formation and early years

Trust Company was founded in 1997 by vocalist and guitarist Kevin Palmer and drummer Jason Singleton. The pair originally performed under the name 41 Down but changed it after realizing the similarity to the Canadian group Sum 41, a prominent punk rock act of the same era. Bassist Josh Moates and guitarist James Fukai joined soon after, and the band self-released demos and a local album before attracting the attention of major-label scouts.

Recording career and releases

After signing with Geffen Records, Trust Company issued their major-label debut, The Lonely Position of Neutral, in 2002. The album produced the single "Downfall," which earned heavy rotation on outlets such as MTV2 and helped the band secure touring slots and broader media attention. Their follow-up, True Parallels, appeared in 2005 and featured the single "Stronger." Following a hiatus later that year, members pursued side projects; Palmer and Moates formed Amity Lane during the break.

Hiatus, reunion and later work

The band announced a reunion in 2007 and returned to recording and performing sporadically. A third album, Dreaming in Black and White, was released in 2011 and included the single "Heart in My Hands." While Trust Company never matched the chart visibility of their debut single, they maintained a dedicated fan base and continued to perform at festivals and regional venues.
