Stephen Roy Reinhardt (March 27, 1931 – March 29, 2018) was a United States federal judge who served on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit from his appointment in 1980 until his death in 2018. He was the last active judge on the federal appeals courts to have been nominated by President Jimmy Carter.

Reinhardt was born on March 27, 1931, in New York City. Politically, he was affiliated with the Democrat party.
Judicial service
Appointed to the Ninth Circuit in 1980, Reinhardt remained in active service with that court for the remainder of his life. Over his decades on the bench he participated in many appellate decisions and held a prominent role within the federal judiciary.
Death
He died of a heart attack in Los Angeles, California on March 29, 2018, two days after his 87th birthday.
