Early life and formation

Yauch was born and raised in Brooklyn and the greater New York City area. He met his future bandmates as a teenager and helped form the group that would blend punk energy with hip hop rhythms. Over time the ensemble developed a distinctive sound and a reputation for adventurous sampling, genre-mixing and high-energy performances.
