Mühlehorn — former lakeside municipality in the canton of Glarus, Switzerland

Geography and character

The village lies where the mountains meet the lake, with a shoreline that supports promenades, small harbours and agricultural terraces. History and administration

Historically Mühlehorn functioned as an independent municipal unit within Glarus. Administrative reform in the canton led to a consolidation of smaller municipalities. On 1 January 2011 Mühlehorn merged with several neighbouring communes to form the larger municipality of Glarus Nord. The merger included:

• Obstalden

After the reorganisation, local services and administration were gradually integrated into the Glarus Nord structure while Mühlehorn retained its local identity as a village and neighbourhood.

Transport links include regional roads and public transit connections to nearby towns, enabling daily commuting and visitor access. Cultural life is typical of small Swiss lakeside communities, with seasonal events, historic buildings and a strong connection to the natural environment.
