Meir Rosenne (Hebrew: מאיר רוזן; 19 February 1931 – 14 April 2015) was an Israeli lawyer and diplomat who served in senior legal and ambassadorial posts for the State of Israel. He was born in Jassy, in what was then Romania.

Career highlights

Rosenne held several prominent positions within Israel's foreign service and related institutions. Key appointments include:

  • 1971–1979: Legal Adviser to the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, responsible for the ministry’s legal work and international-law matters;
  • 1979–1983: Ambassador of Israel to France;
  • 1983–1987: Ambassador of Israel to the United States.

Later activity

Rosenne left the diplomatic corps in 1987. After his retirement from active diplomatic service, he served as President of the Israel Bonds Organization from 1989 until 1994.

Death

Meir Rosenne died on 14 April 2015 in Jerusalem at the age of 84.
