Abul Khayr Dangcal Alonto (30 October 1945 – 9 May 2019) was a Filipino lawyer, businessman and public official. He is best known for serving as chairman of the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) from September 2016 until his death in May 2019. He was the first Muslim to lead that agency, which coordinates socio-economic planning for the island of Mindanao.

Early life and professional background

Alonto was born in Marawi, a city in the Lanao area of Mindanao. Trained in the legal profession, he combined a career in law with business activities and public service. Over the years he was active in both commercial enterprises and local political affairs, bringing that experience to his later government roles.

In September 2016 Alonto was appointed chairman of the Mindanao Development Authority, the national agency tasked with promoting integrated development across Mindanao.
