Geography and administration

Kavajë occupies lowland terrain between the Adriatic coast and the interior plains. Its shoreline includes sandy beaches and resort settlements that attract seasonal visitors. Administratively the district is part of Tirana County and sits within the national territory of Albania. Over recent decades Albania's subnational divisions have been reorganized, so the term "district" is used in both historical and statistical contexts.

Economy and land use

The local economy combines agriculture, small industry and tourism. Fertile soils of the coastal plain support production of vegetables, cereals and other field crops. Along the shore, seaside resorts and small hospitality businesses expand activity during summer months. Light manufacturing and services in the town of Kavajë serve the surrounding rural communities.

History and culture

Kavajë and its surroundings form part of the broader Myzeqe plain, an area with a long history of settlement and agrarian life. The town has developed civic, cultural and sporting traditions typical of regional Albanian centers. Local festivals, religious observances and community events reflect the mixed rural and urban character of the district.

Transport and notable places

  • Principal town: Kavajë (district seat).
  • Coastal resorts and beaches, which are important for seasonal tourism.
  • Road links to nearby cities and regional markets; shorter rail and bus connections may serve commuters and freight.

As a district within western Albania, Kavajë connects agricultural hinterlands to the coast and to the wider urban areas of Tirana and Durrës. Its blend of farmland, residential towns and seaside tourism makes it a representative part of Albania's coastal economy and cultural landscape.
