On 1 January 2013 Glovelier merged with several neighbouring municipalities to form a new municipal entity. The consolidation brought together:
- Bassecourt
- Courfaivre
- Soulce
- Undervelier
- Glovelier (the former municipality)
The result of this reorganization is the municipality now known as Haute-Sorne, which assumed responsibility for local administration, services and planning in the area.
Location and context
Before the merger, Glovelier formed part of the Delémont district structure within Jura and contributed to the local economy and community life typical of the region. The consolidation into Haute-Sorne was part of a wider trend in Switzerland of combining smaller municipalities to improve administrative efficiency and coordinate regional development.
