Overview
Soulce was a former municipality in the district of Delémont within the canton of Jura in Switzerland. It was a small rural settlement typical of the Jura region, with a mix of agricultural land, woodland and village housing. Soulce retained a local identity through its parish structures, communal events and the landscape that links it to neighbouring localities.
Geography and setting
The village sits in the lower elevations of the Jura range, an area characterized by rolling hills, pastures and small forested tracts. The setting provided residents with farmland and access to nearby market towns while remaining relatively tranquil compared with urban centres. The local road network connected Soulce with the surrounding valleys and the district capital, making commuting and trade feasible for inhabitants.
History and municipal reorganisation
Like many settlements in the Jura, Soulce has roots that reach back several centuries through rural and parish records. In the early 21st century Swiss municipal reforms aimed to improve administrative efficiency and local services led to mergers of small communes. On 1 January 2013, Soulce joined with several neighbouring municipalities — Bassecourt, Courfaivre, Glovelier and Undervelier — to form the new municipality of Haute-Sorne. The merger transferred most administrative functions to the new entity while local traditions and village-level community life continued.
Economy, culture and community
Traditionally the local economy combined small-scale agriculture, forestry and crafts. In the wider Jura region, light manufacturing and precision industries (notably watchmaking) are important, and many residents of small villages commute to nearby towns for work. Community life in Soulce centered on village festivals, local associations and the parish; rural architecture and landscape features reflect the region's vernacular traditions.
Legacy and visiting
Today Soulce is administratively part of Haute-Sorne, but the village remains a named locality with its own built heritage and countryside. Visitors interested in rural Jura villages can expect quiet lanes, traditional houses and opportunities for walking and exploring the surrounding countryside. For administrative information and services the municipality of Haute-Sorne is now the primary contact point.

- Local identity often endures beyond administrative mergers, expressed through cultural events and local associations.
