Gerard Gallant (born September 2, 1963) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player and a coach in the National Hockey League. He is best known for his energetic leadership behind the bench and for guiding an expansion franchise to unexpected success early in its history. Born and raised on Prince Edward Island, Gallant has been a prominent figure in North American hockey since the 1980s.
