Early life and ordination

Cece was born in Cimitile in 1936. After theological studies typical for diocesan clergy, he was ordained a priest in 1959. His early ministry would have involved parish work, pastoral care, and participation in diocesan life — the customary preparation for later episcopal responsibilities.

Episcopal appointments and service

In 1984 Cece was appointed bishop of the Diocese of Teano‑Calvi, a historic local church in Campania. Five years later he was named archbishop of the Archdiocese of Sorrento‑Castellammare di Stabia, a role he held for over two decades. As archbishop he carried responsibility for the pastoral direction of the archdiocese, oversight of clergy, sacramental life, and engagement with civic and cultural institutions in his territory.

Roles and activities

Throughout his episcopal career Cece shared the common duties of Catholic bishops: promoting catechesis, supporting parish structures, encouraging formation of priests and laity, and responding to social and pastoral needs. Archbishops also preside at liturgical celebrations, convene diocesan meetings, and represent the local church in regional and national ecclesial contexts.

Legacy and death

After retiring in 2010 he held the title archbishop emeritus. Felice Cece died on 12 May 2020 at the age of 84. He is remembered within his dioceses for long years of service during a period of change in the Italian Church, marked by efforts to maintain pastoral continuity and to address local spiritual and social concerns.
