Edmund Gwenn (1877–1959) — English actor best known as Kris Kringle

Edmund Gwenn, born Edmund John Kellaway, was an English stage and film actor celebrated for his Oscar-winning portrayal of Kris Kringle in Miracle on 34th Street and a long career in theatre and screen.

Edmund Gwenn (born Edmund John Kellaway; 26 September 1877 – 6 September 1959) was an English actor whose career spanned stage, silent and sound films, and later television. He is most widely remembered for playing Kris Kringle (Santa Claus) in the 1947 film Miracle on 34th Street, a role that brought him an Academy Award and renewed popular recognition late in his career.

Gwenn was born in Wandsworth, London, and educated at St. Olave's School and King's College London.
