Eddy Pieters Graafland (5 January 1934 – 28 April 2020) was a Dutch football goalkeeper who became one of the most respected custodians in the Netherlands during the 1950s and 1960s. Born in Amsterdam, he combined club success with a long international career and remained a prominent figure in Dutch football history.
Playing career
Pieters Graafland began his senior career in Amsterdam and later featured prominently for two of the country’s biggest clubs: Ajax and Feyenoord. During his time at Feyenoord he was part of the squad that captured the European Cup in 1970, a landmark achievement for the club and Dutch football as a whole (European Cup). At international level he represented the Netherlands national team on 47 occasions, serving as a reliable presence between the posts for more than a decade.
