Domenico Rocco Giannace (21 September 1924 – 28 March 2019), commonly called "Mingo", was an Italian trade unionist and politician associated with the Italian Communist Party (PCI). He is remembered for his long involvement in local and regional public life in Basilicata, particularly in his native town of Pisticci, in the province of Matera. His public roles combined municipal leadership, regional representation and labor activism.
Local leadership and regional service
Giannace served as mayor of Pisticci from 1963 to 1965, a period in which many Italian municipalities addressed postwar reconstruction and rural development challenges. Later, he represented his constituency at the regional level as a member of the Regional Council of Basilicata from 1980 to 1985. He was born in Pisticci, in the province of Matera, and died there on 28 March 2019 at the age of 94.
