Desh Bandhu Gupta (1938–26 June 2017) was an Indian entrepreneur best known as the founder and long-time chairman of Lupin Limited, a multinational pharmaceutical company. Born in Rajgarh, Alwar in what is now Rajasthan, he led Lupin from a small domestic manufacturer into a global supplier of generic medicines and active pharmaceutical ingredients. In 2015 Forbes estimated his net worth at $7.2 billion, ranking him among the wealthiest people in the world and one of India’s leading pharma industrialists (Forbes).
