Ministry and responsibilities

As a parish priest André led regular liturgies, administered the sacraments, prepared candidates for baptism, confirmation and marriage, and provided pastoral counselling to families and individuals. In his capacity as regional dean — a role often called vicar forane in Catholic practice — he supported other priests, helped coordinate parish activities, and served as an intermediary between local clergy and diocesan authorities. His active years in ministry extended from his ordination in 1968 until his retirement in 2008.

André's work was centred on communities such as Hülzweiler and Piesbach in the Saarland area of western Germany.
