Chenar Shahijan County is an administrative subdivision located within Fars Province in southern Iran. Formally recognized as a county in 2018, it encompasses both urban and rural settlements and is one of the newer counties created through local administrative reorganization. The county's Persian name is written as شهرستان چنار شاهیجان.

Administrative structure

The county contains a single incorporated city, Qaemiyeh, which functions as the primary urban center and local hub for services and administration. In addition to the city, Chenar Shahijan County is subdivided into two rural districts (dehestans): Anarestan Rural District and Somghan Rural District. These rural districts include a number of villages and small settlements that form the agricultural and village network of the county.

Population and demographics

According to the national census taken in 2016, the territory that now makes up Chenar Shahijan County had a population of 45,638 people living in 9,187 families. This census figure predates the county's formal establishment as an independent administrative unit in 2018, but it provides the most recent widely published population snapshot for the area.

History and development

The creation of Chenar Shahijan County in 2018 resulted from administrative adjustments intended to improve local governance and public administration in parts of Fars Province. Such changes are common in Iran as population, settlement patterns, and administrative needs evolve; new counties are often carved out of larger ones to provide closer municipal services and management.

Economy and local life

Life in Chenar Shahijan County reflects a mix of urban and rural activities. The city of Qaemiyeh provides marketplaces, public services and education facilities that serve both city residents and people from surrounding villages. Rural districts support agricultural livelihoods, small-scale commerce and traditional village occupations that sustain the local economy and social life.
