C-flat major
Ces major is a key of the major tonal family, based on the root Ces. The key of Ces major is written in musical notation with seven ♭ (b, es, as, des, ges, ces, fes). The corresponding scale and the fundamental chord of this key (the tonic ces-es-ges) are also designated by the term Ces major.

Because of the seven accidentals (one could represent Ces major - enharmonically reinterpreted - more simply with B major), this key is rarely used.
Instruments in Ces
In marching bands keyless flutes in Ces ("drum pipes") are used in the soprano and tenor registers. In addition to the concert flute in C flat the concert flute in C is becoming increasingly important.
The double pedal harp is tuned in Ces. Since the pedal mechanism allows each string to be retuned twice, any key can be played. In addition, the harp sounds better in keys with many ♭ accidentals; some composers take advantage of this effect and notate pieces in Ces major instead of B major (e.g. Claude Debussy: Sonata for flute, viola and harp).
