Career highlights

Askew made one of his earliest film appearances in Otto Preminger's Hurry Sundown (1967), and in 1969 he appeared in the era-defining road movie Easy Rider, which remains one of his best-known credits. That same year he took a rare starring turn in the spaghetti western Night of the Serpent (La notte dei serpenti), giving him a leading role uncommon in his otherwise supporting-actor résumé.
