Chadwick Aaron Boseman (November 29, 1976 – August 28, 2020) was an American actor, playwright, and film producer. He was known for his roles as Jackie Robinson in 42 (2013), James Brown in Get on Up (2014), Thurgood Marshall in Marshall (2017) and as Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, including Black Panther (2018). He also starred and produced the 2019 thriller movie 21 Bridges.
In 2021, Boseman posthumously won a Golden Globe Award and Screen Actors Guild Award for his role as Levee Green in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. He is also nominated posthumously for an Academy Award for Best Actor.
Boseman died at his home in Los Angeles from colon cancer on August 28, 2020 at the age of 43.He had been battling the disease since 2016, even though the film studios did not know.
