Linda Sarsour (born 1980) is an American political activist and former executive director of the Arab American Association of New York. Sarsour is a Muslim from a Palestinian background. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1980, the oldest of seven children. Her parents immigrated from the West Bank in the 1970s. Sarsour attended public schools growing up in the Sunset Park neighborhood. Linda Sarsour was married at the age of seventeen. She had an arranged marriage. She had three children with her husband by the time she had become twenty five.
Sarsour gained national attention for her advocacy on behalf of American Muslims and as a co-chair of the 2017 Women's March.
Sarsour spoke as a strong supporter for U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders during the 2016 presidential campaign.
