Hakeem Sekou Jeffries (born August 4, 1970) is an American lawyer and politician serving in the U.S. House of Representatives. First elected in 2012 and taking office in January 2013, he represents a Brooklyn-based district in New York. He is a member of the Democratic Party and has held several leadership posts within House Democrats.

Jeffries was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He studied at public institutions for his undergraduate and legal training, earning credentials that led to a career in law and public service.
